Kidney for Kat

A message from Kat

One person can save my life. Maybe it's you.

ISO: one kidney for long-term relationship. Must like filtering blood, long walks on the beach and be open to relocation.

Kat's story

I never thought I'd be writing something like this.

My name is Kat, and on March 3rd, 2026, I received life altering news.

I have End-Stage Renal Failure.  This means that both of my kidneys have "raised the white flag" and have surrendered.  I can no longer flush toxins out of my blood.  This, coupled with DIabetes Type II, meant that my life was now tied to medications.

In the end, my Nephrologist determined that the only way I could resolve this was with a transplant.  Due to the severity of the Renal Failure, my doctor referred me for a transplant.  I am a very private person, so reaching out for help is difficult.  Please, take a moment to read my story, and consider if kidney donation is right for you.  Even if it's not (and I fully understand and appreciate that!), please share my story.  The more the word gets out, the better chance I have at life.

“I'm not asking for a miracle. I'm asking if you might be willing to find out.”

Adults could potentially be a living kidney donor

20+ years

Average lifespan of a living donor kidney — twice that of a deceased donor

Living kidney donors lead full, healthy lives after donation. Most donors return to normal activity within 4–6 weeks. Donors receive free medical evaluation, and many costs related to donation are covered. You can live a completely normal life with one kidney.

How to get tested

It starts with a single conversation.

Getting evaluated as a potential donor is completely free, confidential, and comes with no obligation. Here's what the process looks like:

01

Reach out to me

Send me a message using the form below. I'll connect you with the transplant team at my hospital, who will guide you through every step.

02

Initial health screening

The transplant team will ask about your general health and medical history. This is a simple phone or online questionnaire — no commitment required.

03

Medical evaluation

If the initial screening looks promising, you'll have a thorough medical evaluation — all at no cost to you. This protects both of us.

04

The decision is yours

At every step, you can change your mind. There is no pressure, no obligation, and no judgment. The choice is entirely yours.
